The Brown Derby

1926-1983

A restaurant on Wilshire Blvd. that became synonymous with the Golden Age of Hollywood. Shaped like a brown derby hat and known for all walls having cartoon drawings of stars on them.

Stars frequented The Derby and Romanoff’s below.

Let’s watch perhaps the greatest restaurant scene in all of cinema, shall we? You can turn the sound off and watch it in silence, or go up to the piano player and tell him to SHADDAP!

You will have to tuck your napkin into your collar for this one though…

It gets a bit messy.

C.W. remembers being on pins and needles watching this scene. He can recall no other scene in cinema history that rocked him quite like it.

Let’s have a look at iconic restaurant scenes in film history while we end with a restaurant scene of C.W.’s own. What good is a movie Studio restaurant without a good restaurant scene, right?

Can you guess the titles below, daddio?

“Hit that dial as fast as a jack rabbit, Slim.”
