That’s Randy and Randal… don’t mind them.

C.W. remembers in his younger years when he would walk down to The Video Store every Friday night with his brother and father. A Blockbuster stood on the corner in the dark, all lit up by the yellow and blue neon light. It looked like a safe, strong, sanctuary from far away, and when they would enter it would be heavenly. On hot summer nights, the air conditioning would cool you down as you looked around. C.W. remembers some nights, being there so long deciding on a movie, that by the time they left it would already be too late for them to watch one. The process of not knowing what to pick out, that feeling of a movie that might jump out at you if the moment was right. Now that he thinks about it, those trips to the video store were probably the main cause for his problem with indecision today… Even before he worked at the movie theater, he was affected by Blockbuster and everything The Video Store had to offer. The idea of browsing and reading the back of films when IMDB was not yet a thing. The concept of a family coming in together, then immediately separating, only to meet up on occasion and eventually reconvene to check out and leave. It was a group event, but at the same time, a solo adventure. His time at The Video Store is sacred in his memory and frequented in his mind. It was in fact what it had looked like on the corner: a peaceful sanctuary, and a place where film began to grab hold of him, seeping deep into the young boy’s veins.

Please browse around. Spend a whole night here. Never decide what to get, or come back twice in the same day! We don’t mind, as long as you have your membership card. You’ve met Randy and Randal. Here are our other employees, Charlene and Quentin. Quentin is here all the time, so ask him anything you need to about movies. He’s surely not going anywhere with his life, so he’ll be here for as long as you need him. He knows movies, and he knows them well. So let’s rent!

What you’ll find at The Video Store

In the New Arrivals section we have C.W.’s top films of 2019 in order. As the year rolls around, the new arrival section will be for films that he recommends. For now, during Quarantine, it will be reserved for his favorites of 2019. If you’re ever unsure what to watch, but you want it to be new, just come on down to the New Arrivals section and see what we can do for you. Leave the heavy duty work up to us, and let C.W. pick out a perfect one for you. Below that shelf will be what you have already seen in The Screening Room: C.W.’s Top Bond movies ranked from his favorite, all the way to his least favorite. He watches films in The Screening Room and then ranks them for you in The Archives and in The Video Store so you don’t have to! What a guy! He’s really been enjoying his Quarantini Movie Marathon, and now you can see his favorite Bonds in order. He won’t lead you astray. Feel free to take as many as you need. If you rent 6 tonight, you get the 7th one free! C.W.’s movie collection is yours, and if he has something you haven’t seen, ask him about it and he’ll gladly lend you a copy. He’d rather have you see it then for it to stay on the shelf getting dusty anyway. Movies are meant to be watched and enjoyed, so don’t let them wait like orphaned children, and rent them! Not the orphan children, the video’s we mean. And the last shelf of the store is, and will always be reserved for C.W.’s favorite films of all time. Currently it is his top 10, but he may expand the section to his top 15, 25, 50 if he decides to later on. It is always changing, so we hope you bare that in mind. He’d like you to stay forever with us here at The Video Store, and wants us to make sure you know to return them when you are good and ready. No late fees, just trust, honesty, responsibility, and love for movies. He thinks that’s how a video store should be run, wouldn’t you agree? Throughout the year, the shelves may change in store… things moved from here to there, and from there to here. There may be different film categories on display and different genres out in the open. For now, we hope you enjoy the layout we have decided on for our opening, and do indeed wish that you have a wonderful evening renting.
